Hacked City - 2025

I took part in the hack day at Oposec where I brought in Celfocus Hacked City. It was once again an amazing experience. The idea behind Hacked City is to simulate an urban environment under cyber-attack, where teams must find vulnerabilities and protect “the city” against digital threats. My team’s role was to facilitate, set things up, answer questions and watch the teams dive in.

Seeing people from all types of backgrounds, security professionals, developers, infrastructure folks, collaborate, brainstorm, iterate and have fun while solving serious challenges was truly energizing.

Beyond the excitement and “what if…” moments, the event reinforced something I believe deeply: security isn’t just a checklist, it’s a culture. Using something playful like Hacked City helps break the ice, make security accessible and spread a mindset of “think like an attacker, defend like a guardian”.

I left the day more energised than when I arrived, full of ideas on how to improve Hacked City, and reminded of how valuable community events like this are for learning and growing together. Big thanks to Simpson from OPOSEC for inviting me, and well done to all the participating teams, can’t wait for the next edition!
